Trust Issues didn't come from a creative brainstorm or a studio session with good vibes - it came from a real place, from the gut. This track is built on moments I wish I never lived, but ones that shaped me. It's the sound of betrayal echoing in your head long after the dust settles. It's what happens when loyalty is met with lies, when people you ride for turn around and cut you the deepest.
I wrote this song with a knot in my chest and fire in my pen. Every line is a wound reopened, every verse a memory I'd rather forget. The line "Knives in my back from the ones that I fed" ain't just poetry - it's my reality. It's about giving everything to people, only to realize they were digging your grave while smiling in your face. That level of betrayal changes you. It hardens you. It makes you rethink every connection.
The metaphor "Trust turned to rust, let it fade in the air" speaks to how fragile relationships become once that trust breaks. Rust doesn't start loud - it creeps in quietly, eats away at the foundation until there's nothing left. That's how it felt. One day you're solid, the next you're wondering how long they've been fake. And once it starts, it's almost impossible to stop. That's why I let it fade - sometimes, walking away is the only way to heal.
Sonically, Trust Issues is heavy, dark, cinematic - because that's where my head was. The piano, the atmosphere, the weight - all of it was intentional. I wanted the listener to feel that isolation, to sit in that space with me. Writing this was therapy. Releasing it was freedom.
I know I'm not alone in this. That's the twisted comfort in pain - it connects people. So many of us walk around guarded, carrying scars that were left by people we once called family or friends. My hope with this track is that it gives a voice to that pain. That someone out there hears it and says, "Yeah, I've been there too."
This ain't just a song. It's a statement. A reminder that betrayal doesn't define us - it refines us. It shows us who's real, who's fake, and most importantly, who we are when everything falls apart.
So if you've ever been burned, betrayed, or broken by someone you trusted - Trust Issues is for you. I see you. I hear you. And I'm standing with you.
